Topic- Screening for genetic conditions from pre-conception to birth and beyond. How do we decide which conditions to include? Should we make sure certain possible future persons with genetic disorders are not brought into existence through screening the parents before conception or screening embryos before birth?
Speaker: Dr Mair Crouch, who has dual qualification with degrees in bioscience and law. She was a member of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority from 2008- 2013 and of the Scottish Government Advisory Board for “Generation Scotland” 2004- 2010. Dr Crouch is also an honorary lecturer in bioethics at the University of Glasgow and is the author of the book entitled Medical Genetics and Law: An International Perspective which will be published by Springer in May 2025.
